I just coughed up orange phlegm?

Ive had a cold/cough since about Saturday night but this morning I had a seriously sore throat and I started to cough up normal green phlegm. Then once I tried I had orange, I've never had this before but since then I've only coughed up green. Is this serious? Do I need a doctor? What is this virus/illness called?
