Does God feel sympathy for us?

Sympathetic God makes just as much sense as Smart Bush (the president). God mercilessly killed thousands of Egyptian babies, killed a lot more people and animals during the great flood, and sentences all people who do not believe in him to burn in Hell for all eternity.
